Because of the huge chip lead, the two of us were pretty much betting everyone else out of their hands by then. On this hand, I got junk (2-6 off-suit) but raised big just for the hell of it, and only he called. a six, Jack, and another low card came on the flop, giving me the middle pair. He bet, I called. A nine came on the turn. I had no clue at the time, but my buddy had Jack-nine, which gave him the top two pair on the table. He checked, I raised big to see what he'd do, and he just called. At that point I knew I was pretty much screwed since I didn't have shit. River card - a six! With a huge slice of luck, I'd hit three-of-a-kind, and then I knew I had him. He checked, I pretended to hesitate and think about it for a bit, and called him all in. He called and turned his cards over immediately, thinking it was his game, until I showed him my six. Everybody went nuts. It's been the biggest pot anyone's ever won among our group to date. He still curses the fact that he never re-raised me. Of course, it's one of the most fun hands I've ever played. :-D |
